Medan, CNN Indonesia

Deputy Chairperson of Commission E DPRD North Sumatra, Hendra Cipta regretted the riots that occurred during the Precision Vaccination activity Police at the North Sumatra Provincial Government’s Multipurpose Fishing Sports Hall (GOR) Jalan Williem Iskandar, Deliserdang.

“We are concerned about the vaccination activities carried out by the North Sumatran Police. We don’t know the preparation. But something went wrong in the management, of course, so there was a crowd. This is very unfortunate for a positive activity,” said Hendra Cipta to CNNIndonesia.com, Wednesday (4/8). ).

The activity was attended by the Deputy Chief of the National Police, Komjen Pol Gatot Eddy Pramono, who was accompanied by a number of high-ranking North Sumatran Police. However, the mass vaccination activity sparked a crowd. Thousands of people came to force their way into the hall where the vaccination was held, so that it has the potential to become a new cluster for the spread of Covid-19.

“This activity creates a crowd, so it has the potential to spread Covid-19. It should have been anticipated. It’s not the first time that the police have held a vaccination activity. In Benteng Field, several vaccinations were held and it was running smoothly. Because the hours and people were regulated,” he said.

Hendra assessed that the organizing committee did not have optimal preparation when holding the event. Even the vaccination forms were sold by residents for Rp. 5,000 per sheet.

As a result, people came in abundance even though they were not recorded to have received the vaccine. Hendra also urged the police to investigate the sale and purchase of the form.

“We urge that it is the residents who sell the vaccine forms. The police must evaluate the performance and the committee,” he said.

It is known that the National Police Precision Mass Vaccination at the Multipurpose Fishing Sports Building (GOR), Jalan Williem Iskandar, North Sumatra (North Sumatra) was chaotic and caused a crowd, Tuesday (3/8/2021). Thousands of people came crammed into taking part in the vaccination held by the North Sumatran Police.

Wakapolri Komjen Pol Gatot Eddy Pramono who was accompanied by a number of high-ranking North Sumatran Police had visited the vaccination site. At that time, the officers immediately arranged for the participants not to violate health protocols. However, after Komjen Pol Gatot Eddy Pramono left the scene, riots were unavoidable.

Thousands of people scrambled to enter the hall where the vaccination was held, so health protocols were ignored. There had been pushing and shoving between residents at the location. One of the women even fainted from the jostling. The door leading to the activity hall was broken because residents forced their way in.

“Open! Open! Open!” shouted the residents who urged to enter the vaccination hall.

Medan Police Chief, Kombes Pol Riko Sunarko said the mass vaccination should have been attended by 4,000 participants. It turns out that there are residents who sell vaccination forms for Rp. 5,000 per sheet, so the people who come are unexpected

“Those who have been vaccinated have been recorded by the Polsek Polsek. Polsek sent here, also from fellow students, from schools. What has been recorded is the vaccinated,” said Riko.

“Indeed, residents protested because they got the form. The form was sold again to other residents for Rp. 5,000. Residents felt they had paid Rp. 5,000 per sheet. We did not sell the forms, but other people,” he said.

Riko admitted that there was a crowd in the activity. However, according to him, this happened because people were too enthusiastic about being vaccinated. In addition, residents who sell forms illegally will also not be arrested.

“So they complain because they have paid. That’s why the quota is more. But we will still accommodate it later. There are no people who sold the form being secured. Everyone wants to be vaccinated. The enthusiasm of the community is high. Crowds enter because they are afraid of running out of vaccine,” he explained.
