Next-gen updates for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 postponed to 2022 – game

CD Projekt RED is the latest latest generation upgrade for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Cyberpunk update is slated for the first quarter of 2022, while the upgrade to The Witcher 3 is slated to arrive in the second quarter.

CD Projekt RED announces postponement in twitter. There, the company said two releases had been delayed due to “recommendations from the team who oversaw the development of both games”. The company hasn’t provided specific release dates for either update. “Our targets for Cyberpunk 2077 are Q1 2022 and Q2 2022 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” the company wrote. “We’re sorry for the long wait, but we want to get it right.”

I mentioned early September CD Projekt RED says it plans to release upgrades for Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 this year. Then the company talks about a “target date” which is “end of 2021”. Next-generation upgrades will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X, S, and PC. This means that both games must take full advantage of the computing power of the existing console. For example, The Witcher 3 upgrade should add visual and ray tracing improvements to the game. CD Projekt RED hasn’t shared any specifics about the Cyberpunk 2077 upgrade.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released on December 10, 2020 for PC and consoles and was heavily criticized for bugs and performance issues. Since then, the developer has made several hotfixes and major updates. The Witcher 3 was released in 2015 and was well received by critics and fans of the franchise. Next-generation upgrades will be available for free next year.
