According to Bloombergs Mark Gurman will Apple scrap today’s second- and third-generation AirPods.

The reason must be that the sales of especially the third generation of the earplugs have not gone as well as Apple had thought.

This has meant that the company now reportedly has two new models in the pipeline, and these will apparently be launched during 2024.

Through my AirPods

If the information from Gurman is correct, which it often has been so far, Apple will launch two new models of regular AirPods.

In terms of appearance, they will reportedly be a kind of mix between today’s third generation and AirPods Pro.

The more expensive of the two new models will also have the noise cancellation function that the current Pro model is the only one of Apple’s earplugs.

By all accounts, the price should be roughly in the same street as today’s second and third generation.

Refurbishing AirPods Max

Apple recently launched new iPhone models, and one of the things these had received was a USB-C port.

And not entirely unexpectedly, the upcoming AirPods models will also get this port.

But Apple also has plans for AirPods Max. The big headphones have been more or less the same ever since they were launched in 2020, but soon there will be an upgrade or two.

A USB-C port would be a natural thing to add, in addition to the fact that Apple is considering freshening it up with new colors.

AirPods Pro will also reportedly get a new design, but this will not happen until 2025. And Gurman has not received any more details about these.
