New York nurse receives first COVID-19 vaccine

On Monday morning, a nurse in Queens became the first person in New York state to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

After more than 9 months fighting the coronavirus, it will be health workers – doctors and nurses – who receive the first doses of the Pfizer vaccine, which is already available in the state.

Sandra Lindsay of the Long Island Jewish Center was the nurse who rolled up her gown to be inoculated in front of the cameras.

“It doesn’t feel any different, it’s like getting any other vaccine,” Lindsay said.

Nursing home employees and residents will also have priority on the list for vaccination.
