New York City Council Considers Declaring December 4 as “Jay-Z Day”

The legend could have a nice tribute.

New bill could soon introduce December 4 as “Jay-Z Day” in New York. City council members from “the city that never sleeps” presented earlier this month a report to recognize Jay-Z’s birthday (born in Brooklyn) as an official and even holiday in New York.

According to the project, it would celebrate the “legendary status of rapper, artist, mogul, husband and father, wealth builder and supporter of economic development and community causes”. The person inducted into Rock & Roll Hall of Famewho coined the iconic phrase “I’m not a businessman, I’m a business, man”took his hometown by storm in July 2023 with an exhibition on his emblematic careerat the Brooklyn Public Library.

According to the library, this retracement attracted a record number of visitors. Limited edition library cards, available exclusively at Brooklyn Public Library branches, have led to a considerable increase in the number of memberships and thousands of visitors.

We will see if the bill “Jay-Z Day” will take shape, but it would in any case be a superb celebration and a superb tribute to the rapper. This legislation will be voted on from January 3.
