The Quizduell success story
Simple, captivating and challenging: these are some of the success factors of the Quizduell app. Since 2014, a total of well over 30 million Germans have been quizzing in 19 categories against friends or randomly assigned strangers. In six guessing rounds, the opponents compete on three questions per category. The game is played alternately and it is your turn to take a whole day to play – perfect for in between. The questionnaire is so extensive that under normal circumstances no question is ever repeated.
Quizduell even made the jump into TV. ARD has been broadcasting a TV quiz show under the name since the app was released. There, the candidates have now puzzled over 200 programs.
This is how “New Quiz Duel” comes up in the test
After successful tests in Sweden, the home country of the development studio Mag Interactive, the successor is now coming to the largest quiz duel market in Germany. The launch is still rather quiet. We only found out about it today through a press release. The game is already available for Android and iOS.
Easy setup
After installation, the first positive impression. Because when I started, my existing quiz duel profile was already linked to the “new quiz duel”. Everything else is there too: my statistics, my score and even all running games. The change couldn’t be easier.
Much remains the same
Almost everything on the homepage of the new quiz duel reminds of the familiar app.

The core game can still be controlled via the start screen. Except for a few minor visual adjustments, the game remains true to its recipe for success.
New arena mode with weaknesses
The point “Arena” is really new in the new quiz duel. This hides a very fresh game mode. You compete against four other players at the same time in a predetermined category. The following six questions are not just about answering correctly, but also as quickly as possible, because that gives you even more points. In the end, the best placed players of this round get extra points. The overall score after six questions then ends up in a comprehensive Germany-wide ranking. Since I was able to win the first game with 5 out of 6 correct answers and was probably one of the first 50 players in this round, I placed myself in 3rd place.
The top three spots get in-game rewards even after the season ends. Keeping the placement is time consuming.

The joy of rank and the prospect of experience points, game tickets and an arena medal did not last long. Because as much fun as the mode itself is, the system behind the ranking is unfortunately not optimal, as in normal game. In the end, the one who plays the most often ends up at the top. This has little to do with ability. The questions also seem very limited. In three rounds, i.e. 18 questions, I already had two doubles. In addition, the category “In the laboratory” seems to have a strong focus on noble gases.
Lucrative payment system for the developer studio
By the way, every arena game either costs a ticket or you watch a 30-second commercial. There are ten tickets at the start of the app. Others are either earned in a very limited number in the arena, granted by logging into the app daily, or, above all, can be bought. The prices are juicy.

If you really want to be at the top of a category in the end, you would have to spend several euros on the number of games required – and only for a category that stands for 24 hours. At the same time, three of these arenas are always active, which have different expiry dates and categories. So if you want to land permanently up, you have to spend a lot of money or spend a lot of time in front of promotional videos. Either way, it’s a worthwhile deal for developer Mag Interactive.
Conclusion
Switching to the new quiz duel is so straightforward that we can only advise every player to do so. It’s more of an evolution than really a new game. According to a spokeswoman for the company, the app is more stable than the classic version – also a reason for the new version. The basic game has not changed at all in “New Quiz Duel”. The new arena mode is fun and a real alternative to the classic. But be careful: if you are hunting for high scores, you may spend more time in front of the screen than you would like. The two best news at the end: First, nobody is forced to switch to the new version, because the old version continues to work. And if you don’t want to spend money, you still don’t have to. As always, viewing advertising is a form of payment.
