New clues? The police are searching in Slavětín, where Jan’s mother disappeared 7 years ago

Criminalists returned to Slavětín, the house where the missing Jana Paurová and her husband and four children lived, on Monday, August 10. The event then continued throughout the day on Tuesday, August 11. “I can confirm that criminal investigators are carrying out criminal proceedings in several places in the Louny region, related to criminal activity committed in the past,” said Hana Rubášová from the Police Presidium of the Czech Republic about the police operation in Slavětín.

Police officers from the police presidium took over the case this spring from regional criminal investigators, who had investigated the missing women in the past. The police do not want to provide further details from the investigation yet. According to the Deník, however, the interrogations of the sons were also supposed to take place yesterday; it is possible that their words brought a new light to the case. Already in the past, one of the sons was supposed to testify differently than his husband Pavel Paur. “At this time, we cannot provide any further information,” a police spokeswoman added.

Husband Pavel Paur is watching the police action. According to the Diary, not only the house but also its immediate surroundings are thoroughly searched. According to unofficial reports, digging is also to be done in the garden, a fire tank and a dump truck are on site. There are also dog handlers in the event with dogs trained to search for corpses. A small excavator and an expert with a georadar also came to the house. At the same time, the house and its surroundings were thoroughly and several times searched by forensic scientists and technicians seven years ago.

The mysterious disappearance of Jana Paurová from Slavětín has been shrouded in impenetrable thick fog since February 2013, and her four children have not seen her since then. Hundreds of police officers were combing forests, ponds, ponds, searching in hospitals, hostels, throughout the country and abroad. Again and again. In vain. No witness reported. Forensic scientists examined various suspicions about her surroundings and other tips. Nothing. Seven years of searching. Nothing. Meanwhile, the court imposed a condition on the husband for torturing the woman. Questions remain, but there is no evidence. But now it is possible that the police have new clues.

Where is Jana? The “evaporation” of a woman is still shrouded in a number of secrets. She disappeared only the day before she was to report to the police for abuse. It is not known exactly when she was lost, she is not on any camera record, there are no witnesses who would see her leave. She disappeared without a trace.

Let’s take a closer look at her disappearances. Her husband reported that he missed her on Monday morning, February 4, in Louny at the police. But Friday is also important. That day, Jana Paurová received a summons that she was to appear at the police report on Monday due to alleged torture and beatings by her husband. “Jana was with me several times on Friday, the last afternoon. She said she was afraid to go home, that she was scared. She had a letter with a red stripe. She was afraid to go home because she would be sick again because they would argue that her husband might beat her, “said her friend Pavla Češpivová at the time.

Where is Jana?

Paur, meanwhile, took the three younger children to his parents for the weekend. He then returned home with his eldest son to see his wife. Friday afternoon is also the last date when Jana was recorded by cameras in the village when she left her friend. According to her husband and eldest son, Jana was at home all day on Saturday, no one else saw her in public. She allegedly went to bed in the evening, and in the morning her husband did not find her in the bedroom. “We went to bed on Saturday night, we slept together in the bedroom. I woke up on Sunday morning around seven, she was no longer home. I asked my son if he had seen her, he said no. I waited to see if he would write or call, but nothing, “Pavel Paur described the disappearance. However, according to the police, it is not entirely clear when Paur disappeared, one can only rely on the statements of Paur and her son.

He was said to have been waiting to announce her disappearance, because she had also left for a short time in the past. After the announcement, extensive search operations were launched in the wide vicinity of Slavětín and lasted for many months. Alcohol and abuse also play a major role in the case. Jana Paurová drank a lot. She was drunk very often. There are witnesses who saw her get off the bus, roll around the village, tip the baby out of the stroller, often fall. The question is whether alcohol was the cause or consequence of the situation at home.

The marriage of Pavel and Jana Paur was very wild. They were divorcing, and it became clear in court that they both had several lovers. One of the investigative versions was that the woman escaped with one of them. Pavel Paur even sent a love text message to his brother Jana’s girlfriend. He also had to lock the freezer at home so that she wouldn’t sell food, allegedly to have alcohol. Some witnesses in court talked about rape due to torture, and her husband was also supposed to help her sleep. But everyone has it out of earshot.

Already at the time when she was missing, there was also a trial with Pavel Paur for torturing Jana. He often had to beat her, slap her, kick her, humiliate her. “I did not beat my wife. When her wife drank, she was aggressive. She threw things at me, pulled out a knife. We argued over her drinking, which bothered me. She had bruises from the way I caught her and maybe sat her down when she let me in. I didn’t bully her, but I defended myself. Also from how often she fell, “said Pavel Paur during the trial.

Did she disappear? Did anyone hurt her?

A complicated case without a victim who could not testify in the trial lasted for three years. More than forty witnesses were heard, but their testimonies were extremely different and out of earshot. For one part, Paura argued that he was just defending himself and never attacking, but that Paur should have attacked him. That the woman was often very drunk and fell. The other part of the witnesses, on the other hand, claimed that, according to her wife, she was often beaten, that she often had bruises. It also turned out that her older son had attacked her at least once. The court initially said not guilty, but after an appeal and new evidence, he changed his sentence to guilt and he then confirmed it. It was mainly the dismissal of the doctor who once treated Jana and said that it was unlikely that the injuries would be from a fall. On the contrary, it allegedly corresponded to abuse. Also important was the claim of social workers who, according to various indications, believed that Paur was abused.

For the crime of torturing a close person living in the same household, Pavel Paur was sentenced by a court to a two-year sentence with a suspended sentence of three years. “I did not hurt my wife. Only the witnesses of the other party talk about it, “Paur commented on the decision at the time.

Was she scared and ran away, or did someone hurt her? Some people with Slavětín think that they have escaped from a difficult life and are hiding somewhere. But another part, including her family, thinks something bad has happened to her. She was said to be very fixated on her children. They suspect mainly the husband she was said to be afraid of. But there is no clear evidence yet. “Our whole family thinks he did something to them,” said the missing brother, Tomáš Vavřinec, earlier. They point out beatings, inconsistencies in his statements, but also that he allegedly rejected the lie detector.

“I didn’t do anything to my wife,” Paur had said before.
