NASA Makes Space-Scented Perfume, Want to Try?

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Intrigued by the smell of outer space or space? No need to go there to know the smell. Now, there is a perfume that can give people a space experience, called Eau De Space.

According to Kickstarter, the perfume whose formula was designed by NASA was made to help astronauts get used to the scent of space before being flown there.

“NASA created this formula a few decades ago as a way to train and prepare astronauts to know how space actually smells. Now, the aim is to share it with the whole world, “it says on the website.

Kickstarter also said that the scent of perfume has been verified by astronauts who have experience in space.

Peggy Whitson, an astronaut and former resident of the International Space Station, described the smell. “It smells like a gun, right after you shoot it,” he said in an interview with CNN in 2002.

According to the CNN report, NASA first asked chemist and founder of Omega Ingredients, Steve Pearce, to develop the fragrance in 2008. “Pearce was originally contracted by NASA to re-create odors in 2008, and it took about four years to develop them,” said product manager for Eau de Space, Matt Richmond.

Now the brand is looking for people to make fragrance scents en masse so that everyone can feel its unique aroma.

In addition to building hype around Eau De Space, Richmond also said that the company plans to release a fragrance called Smell of the Moon aimed at women.

Eau de Space will be sold in retail stores for US $ 15 or around Rp. 15,000 with an estimated delivery date of October 2020.
