Mother who poisoned her five-year-old daughter in Cabañas was a Psychiatric patient | El Salvador News

Esther was about to turn 5; an aunt would take her to the United States to study there, but on Sunday she died poisoned by her own mother who is torn between life and death.

In a hamlet in the municipality of Ilobasco, on Sunday morning it happened a tragedy which has shocked all its inhabitants: a woman forced her daughter to drink pills killed in herbicide; she also drank but until today at noon she was in the hospital of Ilobasco, in critical condition.

Esther’s 5-year-old grandparents and Maria N.’s parents, 28, are broken. Although it is something they already feared because the woman had been given to say that would be poisoned; however, that he had also poisoned his youngest daughter, is something they did not imagine.

The grandfather of the minor says that his daughter took a few minutes when he was alone with the girl. The grandmother and the eldest daughter went to Mass and he retired about 100 meters to see the cattle they have.

The girl was playing in the corridor of the house with some candy.

When Pedro returned, he found the granddaughter and her daughter in the yard of the house, the girl was screaming and the woman was vomiting. He immediately noticed the smell of gramoxone and sulphide tablets.

The girl had a greenish liquid on her face and chest. The man asked his daughter why he had done it, but he could not speak, just shivering and vomiting.

A young man of the same family ran to notify Esther’s grandmother to the church where they were, then they transferred both to the hospital of Ilobasco, Cabañas department; there the child died while the mother is still hospitalized in critical condition.

Doctors intended to transfer Esther to Bloom Hospital in San Salvador, due to the seriousness of his condition.

According to Esther’s grandparents, Maria N. suffered from a mental illness for which she was being treated in the Soyapango psychiatric hospital. On February 6th I had the next appointment. She did not like to attend her medical check-ups because after she was given an injection her body was shaking a lot.

According to the girl’s grandparents, her daughter left for the United States with the intention of working; There he met a man from the same village and became pregnant.

Little Esther was born in that country, so she was a citizen and therefore had plans to send her to study there in the care of some aunts.

The authorities do not know why the mother decided to poison herself with her daughter. Until the morning of this Monday, María N. remained hospitalized in police custody and later she will be transferred to the corresponding authorities to face a judicial process against her.
