There are great concerns about the corona virus. Nevertheless, according to Marion Koopmans, professor of virology at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, we as Dutch people do not have to worry immediately.
–
“It is not likely that the virus will come to the Netherlands.” Still, she is holding a blow. “It also depends on how well China is able to stop the problem.”
The Netherlands is in any case well prepared. “There is a plan throughout the country, organized by RIVM,” Koopmans explains. The GGD, laboratories and hospitals have agreements with each other.

There are all kinds of stories on the internet where exactly the virus comes from. What one person talks about is that it comes from snakes, the other reports about bats.
“The snake story is a bit of an Indian story. Few people believe in my profession,” Koopmans says. It is clear, however, that this type of infection does indeed occur in wild animals, for example in bats. “But, it may well be that it was transmitted through another animal.”
