Military aid to Ukraine – Italy will continue deliveries in 2023

The Cabinet, convened by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, approved a decree extending the deadline for the supply of weapons to Ukraine until December 31, 2023.

Therefore, military materials and equipment will be supplied to Ukraine to fight the Russian invasion in 2023. To continue supporting Ukraine, Meloni turned to parliament. And after the Chamber approved the centre-right’s unitary proposal, the Council of Ministers gave the go-ahead for the so-called “NATO decree”. It will continue the decisions already taken by the government of former Italian prime minister Mario Draghi, which will expire on December 31st.

Italy could provide another aid package early next year. Ukraine needs anti-aircraft missile systems to protect the country’s infrastructure from Russian air strikes.
