Former television host Megyn Kelly has criticized Meghan Markle for labeling herself as a feminist on her recently launched personal website. Kelly, accompanied by DailyMail.com columnist Maureen Callahan, expressed her disagreement with the Duchess of Sussex’s claims during a recent show. The highly publicized remarks made by Markle on the couple’s website have ignited a debate surrounding her feminism and treatment of women.
Labeling Markle’s Feminism as Questionable
Kelly vehemently opposed Markle’s self-proclaimed feminism, highlighting the alleged mistreatment of female staff members and her reputation for temper tantrums. According to Kelly, Markle’s actions are not aligned with her self-professed values of empowering and uplifting young women.
Callahan shared Kelly’s perspective and questioned Markle’s lack of reverence and appreciation for the Queen, emphasizing her opinion that Markle’s actions display contempt and ridicule toward the British royal family. Callahan also examined Markle’s previous achievements, including her advocacy work, her successful acting career, and her books aimed at children.
Sussex.com and Royal Controversy
Markle’s new website, Sussex.com, features an introductory section describing the charitable and business pursuits of the Duke and Duchess. As the website is launched, tensions with the Royal Family rise due to the use of their royal titles and official insignia. Palace insiders suggest that employing the Sussex title for commercial purposes may lead to official complaints.
The resentment towards Markle and Prince Harry’s approach intensified when sources revealed that the couple did not consult with palace officials regarding the use of their Sussex titles on their website. The Daily Mirror reported on the couple’s decision to proceed without proper confirmation from the palace.
Pursuing Alternative Avenues for Revenue
Since their departure from the Royal Family and relocation to California in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan have actively sought new sources of income. Prince Harry recently signed a lucrative publishing deal with Penguin Books to write a memoir called “Spare,” which reportedly earned him $20 million. Additionally, the couple collaborated with Netflix to produce the six-episode docu-series “Harry And Meghan,” earning a reported $100 million.
