JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The celebration of the 50th birthday of the POI Perjuangan on Tuesday (10/1/2023) ended in disappointment due to the President General Megavati Soekarnoputri has yet to announce the PDI-P presidential candidate.
Even if the riddle hasn’t been solved, Megavati’s speech for about two hours it was still interesting to watch.
In his speech, Megawati repeatedly mentioned President Joko Widodo who attended the event.
He also seemed to be giving a support code to his daughter, Lady Maharani to become a presidential candidate.

satire Jokowi
During his speech, Megawati mentioned Jokowi’s name and said that Jokowi’s fate would be pitiful if there were no POI-P.
“Pak Jokowi is like that, you know, just in case. Oh yeah, even though Pak Jokowi doesn’t have a Perjuangan POI as well, oh, I’m sorry,” said Megawati, Tuesday.
Megawati’s statement made PDI-P cadres laugh.
Megawati also explained why Jokowi’s fate would be pitiful if there were no POI-P.
He recalled that, in terms of provisions, the support of the PDI-P is a formal legal requirement for Jokowi to become president.
“You know, it’s legal formal, you know, he became president, he didn’t have this, right, legal formal that I followed all the time,” Megawati said.

Megawati also briefly touched upon the issue of adding three terms to the presidential term.
He stressed that the presidential term must be limited to a maximum of two terms, regardless of the president’s greatness.
“Well, if it was done twice, sorry twice. It’s not that Pak Jokowi isn’t smart. What are you doing myself like this if you’re not smart?” said Megawati.
He also stressed that the decision as to which presidential candidate the PDI-P will bring is in his hands.
Megawati said that according to the results of the 2019 PDI-P congress, he had the prerogative to determine a presidential candidate.
“Now wait, nothing, it’s business I”, said Megawati.
Signal for the lady?
On the other hand, Mega’s speech can also be seen as a signal of support for Puan.
Puan, chairman of the DPR and chairman of the PDI-P DPP, is one of the PDI-P cadres believed to have the potential to become a presidential candidate in 2024.
In his speech, Megawati also signaled that the PDI-P would bring in its own cadres as presidential candidates.

Megawati also spoke about women leaders in her speech. This he said referring to himself.
Megawati admitted she was surprised that anyone ever asked her about the criteria for a future leader she hoped for. Because, according to Megawati, her criteria can be seen from her.
“There is a question, what kind of future leader do you expect. Aih, I said, why don’t you watch me Yup. People are definitely there. It’s terrible,” Megawati said.

Megawati said that his intelligence was also demonstrated by his struggle to increase POI-P.
The fifth president of the Republic of Indonesia said that when it was still called PDI, his party was hit by a dual leadership between Megawati and Soerjadi.

Jokowi’s answer
In contrast to Megawati, who was forthright in her speech, Jokowi, who got her turn to speak afterward, seemed downright stiff.
During about 21 minutes of his speech, Jokowi spoke more about the economic situation clouded by the crisis and the government policies that prohibit the export of raw materials and downstream industries.
Jokowi only touched on political issues at the end of his speech, and this also contained praise for Mega, whom he considered careful in deciding the PDI-P presidential candidate.
“What I’m happy about, I’m sorry Ms. Mega, Ms. Mega was very careful in deciding. Really calm and not grunt like the others, they were pushed from everywhere, they didn’t falter,” Jokowi said.
Indeed, at birthday events elsewhere, Jokowi is usually more flexible in his speech and not infrequently slips into his code or attitude regarding the latest political issues.
At the Hanura party’s anniversary event on Dec. 21, 2022, for example, Jokowi voiced his grievances when the Palace was deemed to have interfered in determining whether or not a political party would pass as a participant in the election.
Then, on the commemoration of Perindo’s anniversary on November 9, 2022, Jokowi even gave Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto an endorsement code to run for president.
