Man dies after car crash against tree in Valença

One man died and another was seriously injured in a car accident followed by a collision with a tree on the EN 201 in Cerdal, Valença.

The seriously injured is the driver of the vehicle, 56 years old. The deadly victim is the companion, 54 years old. Both are residents of Cerdal. The accident occurred at about 20.49 hours on the EN201.

According to the Valença Fire Commander, Miguel Lourenço, the 54-year-old man was still transported to the Braga hospital by VMER do Alto Minho, but ended up succumbing to his injuries on the way. The seriously injured man was transported to the Viana do Castelo hospital.

The circumstances in which the car was found out are unknown, apparently without the involvement of other vehicles.

Source of the District Command of Relief Operations (CDOS) of Viana do Castelo, said that the alert for the accident was given at 20.49 hours and that 201 was cut in both directions until 22.35 hours.

Twelve operatives with five vehicles from the Valença Fire Department were mobilized to the site, the local Immediate Life Support (SIV) ambulance and two GNR patrols.
