Schallstadt: CDU member of the Bundestag Matern von Marschall is running again for the Bundestag in constituency 281 Freiburg – “Our homeland needs a strong voice in Berlin!”

– At the nomination meeting on Friday evening, 56 of the 61 CDU members eligible to vote voted for Matern von Marschall, who was the only applicant, under strict hygiene measures in the Johann-Philipp-Glock Hall in Schallstadt.
Since his successful candidacy in 2013, Matern von Marschall has represented the Freiburg constituency in the German Bundestag. In 2017 he was able to defend his direct mandate and will be back in the coming year. “Working with bite in the Bundestag for my homeland. That should also be my job for the future, so I’m running again and I’m looking forward to the upcoming election campaign,” said Matern von Marschall after the vote. In the Johann-Philipp-Glock Halle in Schallstadt, which usually has space for up to 500 people, the guests could easily comply with the corona distance rules.

In a combative and aggressive speech, Matern von Marschall got the members of the two CDU district associations Freiburg and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in the mood for the super election year 2021. The members present gave an unequivocal vote: with 91.8 percent of the votes cast, they gave their MPs the task of going into the election campaign again. With the broad support of his party, Matern von Marschall should win the direct mandate in the Freiburg constituency again after 2017.

“We were strong in the corona pandemic because we did solid business in the past,” said Matern von Marschall right at the beginning of his speech. “It is now a matter of making Germany and Europe more resilient, more competitive and more defensive,” said the CDU’s newly elected Bundestag candidate. For future viability, it is important to implement the potential of new technologies such as hydrogen on a regional basis and to advance digitalization.

“If some of the Greens have their way, even approved infrastructure projects should be stopped – then nothing will work in this country: that mustn’t be, and that’s why our homeland also needs a strong voice in Berlin. I want important projects from the city tunnel to the Freiburg-Colmar railway line, “said Matern von Marschall. In his speech, Matern von Marschall also acknowledged that the constitutionally anchored debt brake must apply again from 2022. “We Christian Democrats are the only big people’s party and we make politics for the people in Germany instead of imposing an ideology on them. It is worth arguing for that and I’m looking forward to the upcoming political disputes,” concluded Matern von Marschall.
