Man Arrested for Serial Hot Water Attacks on Women in Manhattan: NYPD

NEW YORKPolice arrested a man who allegedly threw hot water on three different women in Manhattan within the span of an hour in a series of unprovoked attacks a day ago, New York City Police said Thursday.

The NYPD said the three incidents occurred downtown between 7:45 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

In the first case, a suspect identified as Larry Martin allegedly poured hot water on a 49-year-old woman’s face near Sixth Avenue and West 56th Street, causing burns. Half an hour later, police allege the same man threw a cup of hot liquid at a 45-year-old woman as she exited the subway at West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue.

Fifteen minutes after that, the man allegedly assaulted a third victim while she was walking on the sidewalk of West 35th Street. He also poured hot water on her, causing burns and swelling, police said.

All victims are expected to recover. Martin is accused of assault. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
