Darmstadt / Aurachtal – Great and fast collaboration of the investigators from Hesse and Bavaria!
On Thursday morning (22 September), investigators from the Darmstadt Criminal Police searched two properties in Frankfurt (Hesse) and Auractal (Bavaria) of a couple of scammers with the support and help of neighboring Bavarian colleagues.
Officials managed to arrest a suspected makeup thief (34).
The 34-year-old from Auachtal and his alleged 30-year-old accomplice from Frankfurt (Main), along with a still unknown accomplice, allegedly stole coins worth several thousand euros from a Darmstadt couple about two months ago. And that could only work because the cheating couple pretended to be police officers …
the scam
The trick of the cheaters is well known and yet it seems to work again and again …
According to initial investigations, on 12 July 2022 a man (34) and a woman (30) rang the doorbell of a couple in Darmstadt and asked for help. Wicked: The couple of crooks pretended to be police officers and so they were let in by the unsuspecting and trusting couple into the Wenckstrasse apartment. Here the two thieves made a big booty, stealing coins worth several thousand euros.
The police immediately began investigating, evaluating the clues – and the 21/22 Commissioner quickly determined! The suspicion fell on a woman from Frankfurt (Hesse) and a man from Auachtal (Bavaria).
The search warrants for the properties of men and women in Hesse and Bavaria were therefore immediately obtained by the district court through the prosecutor’s office in Darmstadt (Hesse).
Then, at the beginning of Thursday, the access: the agents met the 34-year-old suspect in his apartment in Auachtal (Bavaria). But not only that, during the search of the apartment the investigators also managed to secure several coins.
Now it remains only to determine whether the seized coins are really stolen goods.
Now Kripo is still in third – still unknown – accomplice.
