LMRA Ensures Protection of Expatriate Workers’ Rights in Bahrain

Manama: 5,63,000 expatriates work in various sectors in Bahrain. This was informed by the Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA). The LMRA clarified this in response to a question by Parliamentarian Jalal Kadim. The MP lauded the role played by LMRA in protecting the rights of all parties concerned with employment and creating a decent work environment to enable social security and economic growth.

As of December 12, 2022, 5,63,723 people are currently in the country as foreign workers. LMRA is also trying to ensure that there are no illegal workers by inspecting the workplaces. As part of these efforts, 3891 illegal foreign workers were repatriated during the reporting period. The LMRA spokesperson added that the presence of illegal foreign workers will be stopped through regular inspections.
