If the iqama is not renewed within three days of its expiry, a penalty will have to be paid

Jeddah: The Saudi passport department requires foreign workers to renew their Iqama residence document in Saudi Arabia at least three days after its expiry date. Otherwise, the passport department has warned that fine will have to be paid.

Iqama should be renewed before the expiry date. If stay for any reason must be renewed within three days.
On the other hand, if it is the first time to delay renewing the iqama after the expiry date, a fine of 500 riyals will be charged. A fine of 1000 Riyals will be charged if the first time is delayed and the renewal is delayed for the second time.

In the past, Iqama was renewed for one year or two years. Now there is a facility to pay the levy for 3, 6 and 9 months and renew it for less months. Due to the difficulty of paying the levy together, the employers of many people, including the Malayalis, renew their iqama by paying the levy for a shorter period of time.
