BARCELONA – The sports journalist from Spain, Graham Hunter, assessed Lionel Messi could leave Barcelona in the summer transfer market 2020. However, in Hunter’s view, Messi moved not because he was looking for a club that was willing to give him a bigger salary, but the effect of missing the Champions League trophy.
Throughout his football career, The flea – the nickname Messi – has won four Champions League trophies. A total of four trophies were won by Messi in 2005-2006, 2008-2009, 2010-2011 and 2014-2015.
The number above makes Messi recorded as the player with the most Champions League trophies, since the competition changed format in 1992-1993. However, this status was passed by Cristiano Ronaldo, who is Messi’s eternal rival.
In 2017-2018 or after bringing Real Madrid to the Champions League, Ronaldo won five Big Ear trophies. Ronaldo pursues the Messi trophy, because in the last five seasons he has failed to win the Champions League trophy.
At the same time, Ronaldo won three Champions League trophies. Because of this, Messi missed the Champions League trophy, the title he last lifted five years ago.
