The local authorities of Laâyoune proceeded, on Saturday, to the delivery of a batch of protective masks to representatives of civil society for their free distribution to the population, in order to limit the spread of the new coronavirus (Covid-19).

Launched by the wali of the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, governor of the province of Laâyoune, Abdeslem Bekrate, this initiative was an opportunity to remind citizens of the duty to respect the precautionary rules and the security and safety measures. hygiene, in particular wearing protective masks, respecting the safety distance and social distancing.

In this context, the local authorities have stepped up awareness campaigns for the benefit of citizens, while reminding them of the importance of respecting the preventive measures put in place by the competent authorities in order to fight this pandemic.

Likewise, they called on the population to responsibly adhere to preventive measures, in order to support the efforts made by the public authorities and health services to limit the transmission of this virus.

In a statement to the press, the associative actress Soukaina Dida indicated that the civil society of the city of Laâyoune has been involved with responsibility in the awareness-raising operations since the beginning of the confinement until today.

She also praised the strong involvement of all actors in these campaigns, including local authorities, civil society and representatives of African communities, noting that the current epidemiological situation requires the combined efforts to encourage citizens to respect preventive measures. , in order to overcome this crisis which requires collective and united mobilization.

As for Abdeslam Elamli, an associative actor, he indicated that the intensification of awareness-raising operations on the danger of the spread of the coronavirus has become an urgent necessity because of the epidemiological situation in the Kingdom, deploring “the irrational and irresponsible attitudes of certain individuals who minimize the severity of the virus and do not respect barrier gestures “.

Likewise, Mr. Elamli welcomed the content of HM King Mohammed VI’s speech on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People, calling on the inhabitants of the city to continue the mobilization and awareness, while urging them to get more involved in the fight against this virus.

With a view to controlling the evolution of the spread of the virus, spaces have been set up for screening at the entrance to the city of Laâyoune and at the port for the benefit of fishermen and workers in industrial units, with a view to ” identify positive cases, avoid a wide spread of the virus and facilitate the follow-up of contact cases.
