Boats and divers searched the Lauwersmeer on Wednesday morning for a missing sailor, a 54-year-old man from the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân. The search was launched after the man’s boat was found empty on the Lauwersmeer on Tuesday evening around 8 p.m. Helicopters, boats of the KNRM and the fire brigade, and a plane of the coast guard were searched for the man.
On Wednesday afternoon around 2 p.m., the police found a body of a deceased person. An investigation shows that it belongs to the missing man. “There is no question of a crime,” the police said on Twitter.
