Rumor: Battlefield 2042 release delayed ‘by a few weeks’ – Gaming – News

Electronic Arts may be planning to delay the release of Battlefield 2042 by several weeks. Reports include the usually well-informed VentureBeats journalist Jeff Grubb and Battlefield leaker Tom Henderson.

Grubb shared this week on Twitter that a game will be delayed this week, and later clarified in its Discord server that it is Battlefield 2042, also writes Eurogamer. This is endorsed by Tom Henderson, a leaker who regularly shares accurate information about upcoming Battlefield games. Henderson is said to have heard from his sources that the game will be delayed “by a few weeks”.

The leaker writes that this delay is “still unfolding internally” at EA, but that the company will share news by the end of this week. It is unknown what date the game would be released if it is delayed. The company would speak internally about “end of November 2021”. Henderson also reports that the beta will not be postponed, and is therefore scheduled for September 22.

EA announced Battlefield 2042 earlier this year. Set in the future, the multiplayer-only game supports matches with up to 128 concurrent players on next-gen consoles and PC. The game’s release date is currently set for October 22, but this may be pushed back. Tweakers previously published previews of Battlefield 2042 and service Battlefield Portal mode.
