It’s been less than two months since new mom Kylie Jenner gave birth to baby Stormi Webster. But the social media maven is already back on his #ad game and fans are not happy with his latest endorsement. Jenner was approached for advertising a sneaker company that advocates a “snap-back” post-pregnancy body.

Jenner posted the selfie showing her waist trainer Waist Gang Society yesterday March 19. The brand is the favorite of the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan. Kim, Khloé and Kylie have sported numerous Waist Gang Society trainers on social media, numerous times, before Jenner’s latest post. But returning to the waist training track so soon after giving birth raises some of Jenner’s followers eyebrows.

‘my girl @ premadonna87hooked me up with the @waistgangsocietysnap back package. #ad beltgang has the BEST quality snap back products. make sure you get your package and follow @waistgangsociety to join and continue the journey together, ” Jenner wrote in her post.

Jenner’s selfie once again feeds into the narrative that new mothers can simply ‘bounce’ back into their pre-pregnancy bodies days or weeks after giving birth. And yes, some women can. But in many cases, the rebound isn’t instantaneous, even though the tabloids and social media like to make it look. This pressure can cause emotional damage to new moms adjusting to their postpartum body.

In reality, waist-high sneakers are not a sustainable option. Caroline Apovian, MD, professor of medicine at Boston University School of Medicine and spokesperson for The Obesity Society, told Health.com:

“ If you’re going out and want to look really slim, I don’t see a problem wearing one for a night out. But when it comes to lasting results, Dr Apovian said, “In my opinion, that’s completely absurd.” the trainers can actually do more harm than good , she continued. Acid reflux, loss of strength, and organ displacement are all possible side effects of waist training.

Jenner’s sequel is skeptical of #ad for these and more reasons.

Obviously, Jenner is allowed to participate in any approval deal she wishes. But we can see why this post might be daunting for other new moms. Once again, we remind you that not everything you see on social media is the whole truth.
