King Charles’ Low-Key Easter Sunday Amid Cancer Battle

King Charles will be taking it easy on Easter Sunday. The monarch, 75, who has battled against cancer in recent months, has been laying low as part of his recovery.

As a result, Charles is set to sit apart from the other members of the royal family during the church service on Sunday at Windsor Castle’s St. George’s Chapel. This precaution is to ensure his safety and health, according to The Telegraph.

Easter Appearance Following Cancer Diagnosis

This will be Charles’ first public appearance since revealing his cancer diagnosis back in February. While undergoing treatment, the former Prince of Wales has mainly worked remotely in his office at Buckingham Palace, staying behind closed doors.

Charles will also not be hosting his annual Easter lunch with his family at Windsor following the church service. Nevertheless, his appearance at the chapel, alongside Queen Camilla, 76, from a distance, is seen as a positive sign of his recovery.

Duchess of Cambridge’s Absence

Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, will be absent from Sunday’s events as the Duchess of Cambridge is also battling cancer. William and Middleton will stay behind at Sandringham Estate with their children.

Traditions of the Windsor Clan

In the past, the Windsor clan has gathered together for a luxurious Easter roast supper. Traditional roast lamb with seasonal vegetables and Easter eggs from chocolatier Charbonnel et Walker are typically part of the festive menu.

Royal chef Darren McGrady shared in an interview with OK! magazine about the extravagant menu including a compound salad, locally-supplied cheese and fruit as a palate cleanser, and other delectable dishes.
