Kapolri Tawari Anak Kosmas Blocker Makassar Bomber Becomes Police

Makassar – National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo offered the son of the Makassar Kosmas bomber blocking security to become a police officer. This is a form of appreciation for the Kosmas action in detaining the Makassar bomber couple.

“Yes (the son of Kosmas was offered by the Chief of Police to become a police officer). That is an appreciation of the Chief of Police for the courage of Pak Kosmas,” said South Sulawesi Police Chief Inspector General Merdisyam to reporters in Makassar, Wednesday (31/3/2021).

Merdisyam said all parties appreciated Kosmas, including him. He said Kosmas’ courage had a very significant impact because it could minimize the number of victims.

“If only there were no people like Pak Kosmas it would be a different story,” he said.

Therefore, Merdisyam asked all parties to learn from the courage of Kosmas. He said that security is not only the duty of the police. The community must also take a role as a shared responsibility.

“The efforts made by the security of the Cathedral Church and other places have actually been very good because there are church officials who are ready to anticipate them,” said Merdisyam.

“So, like yesterday, with his courage and thoroughness, he could arrest the perpetrator from entering and we can imagine that the church did not prepare internal security like that,” Merdisyam continued.

Meanwhile, the family also confirmed that Kosmas boys were offered to become policemen. The Kosmas boy was known as Frengki.

“(The name of the Kosmas child) Frengki, the student is at UKIP (Paulus Indonesia Christian University) Makassar,” said Jon (48) as Kosmas’ younger brother.

As is well known, the Kosmas action which dared to block the husband and wife who carried out the suicide bombers from entering the Makassar Cathedral, Sunday (28/3), received a lot of praise. The reason is, the victim due to the suicide bombing could have claimed other than the perpetrator.

General Sigit himself had expressed his gratitude to Kosmas (51), the security guard who prevented the suicide bombers from entering the Makassar Cathedral Church. Kosmas at the time had to suffer burns from suicide bomb fragments.

“I also thank the security guards who have guarded and detained the suicide bombers so as to prevent more victims,” General Sigit told reporters in front of the Makassar Cathedral Church, Sunday (28/3).
