The 2019-nCoV coronavirus causing a new type of pneumonia is similar in its degree of danger to ordinary flu viruses and has not yet provoked a single disease in Japan with severe symptoms. This is stated by the head of the Japanese Association for the Study of Infectious Diseases, Professor Kazuhiro Tateda, in an interview with the Nikkei newspaper.
He noted that the National Institute of Infectious Diseases conducted a study of this coronavirus taken from an infected person. According to the results of the study, it was found that no genetic mutations occurred with him, contributing to an increase in its infectious and damaging potentials. The scientist assured that the new coronavirus does not have a particular danger, it is close to ordinary flu viruses. The professor also expressed surprise at the large number of deaths in China due to a new type of pneumonia outbreak, indicating that in Japan there was not a single case of a serious condition. “Perhaps this is due to differences in treatment systems,” Tateda concluded.
