Federal authorities aka the FBI and the Massachusetts State Police, United States (US) are investigating potential criminal activity inside flight American Airlines from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Boston on Saturday (2/9).
As reported Insiderauthorities did not provide details about what may have happened, but local news stations Boston 25 reported that they were concerned about a passenger who said there was a hidden camera in the plane’s bathroom.
A police officer in the unit that responded to the incident told another local outlet, WSOC-TVthat the incident involved a teenager, a cellphone and a male flight attendant.
A passenger told Boston 25 that a male flight attendant had prohibited a teenage girl from entering the toilet. The male flight attendant said he needed to wash his hands first. The teenage girl then used the toilet after the flight attendant.
Another passenger on the plane told Boston 25 that the girl’s mother was then seen stopping other passengers from using the bathroom and warning them that there was a hidden camera inside.
When the Airbus A321 landed at Boston Logan International Airport at around 10 a.m. local time, the passenger said police and airline staff checked the bathroom before the male flight attendant was taken away somewhere.
Massachusetts State Police said in a statement that its officers attended the plane after it landed and began an investigation.
He added that crimes that occurred during the flight were the responsibility of federal authorities, who asserted their jurisdiction over Saturday’s incident.
In a statement shared with InsiderAmerican Airlines said it was taking the incident very seriously.
“American Airlines flight 1441 from Charlotte (CLT) to Boston (BOS) was screened by law enforcement upon arrival. We take this matter very seriously and are cooperating fully with law enforcement in their investigation, as safety and security is our top priority,” ” the statement read.
