Indonesia One of the Countries with the World’s Highest Age-Related Macular Degeneration Prevalence

In commemoration of World Sight Day 2021 today, dr. M. Sidik, Sp.M(K), General Chairperson of PERDAMI Center stated, AMD is one of the eye diseases that needs to be treated as early as possible.

He reminded the entire community regarding the importance of maintaining eye health. The reason is, eye problems can have an impact on education, work, quality of life, to poverty.

“I represent all ophthalmologists in Indonesia in PERDAMI, inviting stakeholders: government, companies, institutions and individuals, to actively support access to universal eye health,” he said at the same event.

It is necessary to ensure that everyone has access to eye care without exception, including the elderly population, he added.
