The family felt unwell after dinner. In the hospital where mother, grandmother and granddaughter were hospitalized, the last two died.
In the Russian capital, an entire family ended up in the intensive care unit of a hospital after eating a watermelon for dinner. As a result of the poisoning, my grandmother and granddaughter died, informs Telegram channel Baza.
The family members bought a watermelon at the Magnit supermarket. The watermelon was eaten after dinner on Wednesday, September 8th, by everyone except the head of the family.
The next day, a 38-year-old mother, a 61-year-old grandmother, and a 15-year-old girl vomited profusely. People called an ambulance, but they decided not to be hospitalized. Doctors considered it a common poisoning.
Towards evening, the women and the girl became worse and the doctors were called home again. This time the victims were taken to the hospital.
“The condition of the grandmother and the girl was critical. The pensioner died last night, and the girl also died this morning (September 10 – ed.). The mother’s health was stabilized. The father feels fine – he did not have any symptoms of poisoning,” the newspaper notes.
Law enforcers find out what the family was poisoned with. It is noted that the cause of the poisoning could be not only watermelon, but also chicken.
Friday September 10th got to the hospital the poisoned family’s neighbor is an 11-year-old boy. He lives in the same entrance. The child became ill the day before. Parents claim that he did not eat the watermelon, but, most likely, was poisoned by the chicken.
The chicken was also found in the family’s refrigerator, where the granddaughter and grandmother died. All contents of the refrigerator have been sent for examination.
Later it became known that another 9-year-old child was hospitalized from the same house.
The store where the watermelon was bought was sealed. Investigative actions are underway there.
“We have begun to conduct an internal investigation and plan to re-check all shipments of watermelons. They will be withdrawn from sale pending the completion of the investigation,” reported reporters from the press service.
A criminal case was initiated.
