Has your dog ever reacted to a song or seen him stare at the television while you’re watching a movie or series? These animals, like babies, are capable of associating sounds that they have been listening to for a while, transmitting different emotions.
It is likely that your dog has heard some type of music genre and has reacted in a different way than when you have played another type of music. Now, a Scottish study has revealed what kind of music genre your canine friend is likely to prefer.
This is the music your dog probably prefers
Researchers from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, along with experts from the Scottish Humane Society, found that reggae and soft rock are the genres preferred by dogs, although certain dogs seem to have various tastes.
“We were very interested in exploring the effect of listening to different genres of music and it was clear that behavioral and physiological changes observed were maintained during the test when the dogs were exposed to a variety of music”, explains Amy Bowman, of the Scottish university in statements quoted by Study Finds.
“In general, the response to the different genres was mixed, which highlights the possibility that, like humans, our canine friends have their own individual musical preferences,” adds Professor Neil Evans, from the same university. . “That said, reggae music and the soft rock showed the elders positive changes in behavior“.

Previously, the Scottish Humane Society had already published a study indicating that classical music had a calming effect in dogs.
