In an interview with t-online.de Michael Roth speaks about anti-Semitism – in Germany, but also in Hungary. The Hungarian foreign minister then wants to meet the German ambassador.
Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto summoned the German ambassador because of an alleged anti-Semitism allegation against his country by a top German politician. Szijjarto announced this on his Facebook page. Apparently he was upset by a statement by the German Minister of State for Europe Michael Roth (SPD). However, he did not say what Roth’s statement he was referring to.
According to the news portal “index.hu” it is likely to be an interview with Roth, that t-online.de led with the politician. It states: “One aspect that led to the Article 7 (EU) proceedings against Hungary was the rampant anti-Semitism in Hungary. I can’t be critical of that anti-Semitism speak in other countries without mentioning the appalling increase in anti-Semitic crimes in Germany. “
According to Szijjarto, the German ambassador will be received by Deputy Foreign Minister Levente Magyar on Monday because he himself is traveling in China.
