Russian troops have completely occupied Severodonetsk, the mayor of the city, Oleksandr Stryuk, said on Saturday, June 25.
The Ukrainian army announced on Friday that it would step down from Severodonetsk to better protect neighboring Lysichansk.
Strukuk also said the occupiers in Severodonetsk are now filming a propaganda video with civilians leaving the bomb factory Azote.
“Russia is now fully occupied Azote. They are trying to establish their own order. As far as I know, they have appointed a “commander” who is now assembling an “active core”, “said Stryuk.
He noted that the city was badly damaged and that it would be difficult for civilians to survive there.
However, the local hospital has already established stocks of the most important medicines.
Struk said civilians had begun to leave Azote factory, and the occupiers are filming a propaganda video with them.
Several hundred people hid in the factory.
“These people have spent about three months bombing shelters and cellars. They have a hard time emotionally, psychologically. Now they need help, medical and psychological, “said Strjuk.
Currently, civilians can only travel from Severodonetsk to the Russian-occupied territories. It is not possible to evacuate people through the contact line, Strjuk said.
The head of the Luhansk district administration, Serhiy Hayday, said on Friday that Russian troops had almost completely destroyed Severodonetsk, all critical infrastructure had been destroyed, 90% of the city had been damaged and 80% of residential buildings had to be demolished because they could not be rebuilt.
Russia fired rockets at Kiev and its environs on Sunday morning, hitting a nine-story apartment building in the capital, officials said.
Another rocket hit the territory of a kindergarten in Kiev, said Anton Herašchenko, an adviser to the Interior Minister of Ukraine.
The three upper floors of a multi-storey residential building have partially collapsed in the collision.
The Prosecutor General’s Office said four people had been hospitalized and one had died. 25 people were evacuated from the destroyed house.
Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Honcharenko said Russia fired 14 rockets at Kiev and its environs.
Ukrainian air forces said the missiles were fired from bombers in the Caspian region.
