Hauts de Seine: Bagneux kicks off the rehabilitation of the Pierre-plate district

By the end of 2021, the terminus of metro line 4 will be pushed a little further south. Instead of stopping at Montrouge, the line will end its journey at Lucie-Aubrac station, in Bagneux (Hauts-de-Seine), in the heart of a rapidly changing district, that of Pierre-plate. At the end of January, two public planners were selected to redevelop this area, north of the city: Sadev 94 and Citallios. Their objective, to operate an urban, social and ecological transition within the “ZAC des Musiciens”.

In total, 40,000 m2 will be built or rebuilt in this area declared “of National Interest” by the National Urban Renovation Agency. Today, the district of Pierre-plate is entirely made up of social housing. A quarter of homes – 280 out of 850 will be destroyed. The others will be rehabilitated to present better energy performance.

Make room for green spaces

The share of social housing will be reduced to 50% by 2030, while the Sadev 94 and Citallios project provides for 580 new housing units divided into 9 lots, including 150 in social housing. 11% of future homes will be offered for purchase at controlled prices.

“Each island will have its collective garden, on the ground or on the roofs for the most constrained lots”, explain the public planners. Public spaces will be redesigned to give more space to greenery. Nelson Mandela Park will be extended with shared gardens and a pedestrian path to the station hub.

The Debussy mall will see the creation of a plot and a garden. It must also accommodate a new nursery with 60 places, with an interior garden of 350 m2. Finally, the equipment square, which provides access to the municipal swimming pool and the Henri Wallon gymnasium, will accommodate outdoor sports equipment.

Two metro lines by 2025

The project plans to revitalize the district through the relocation of a local shopping center, with a mini-market of around 600 m2, shops, a medical center and a pharmacy. At the request of the inhabitants, the ground floors of future buildings will host “Places of Making”: spaces for work, training and artistic creation, commercial premises for trial shops, warehouses and repair workshops.

With this project, Bagneux is completing the rehabilitation of the north of its territory, initiated with the redevelopment of the ZAC Victor Hugo. The overhaul of the district will be completed with the arrival of line 4 at the end of 2021 and line 15 in 2025.
