Skydiver reported missing in Norway found alive after major search operation

– A search is being launched both on water and on land. We don’t know what happened. Whether the person in question has landed or whether something else has happened, operations manager Kjetil Kaalaas in the Nordland police district told NTB at 8.45pm on Saturday evening while the search operation was still ongoing.

The police were notified of the incident at 8.10pm. Just over an hour and a half later, the parachutist was found alive after a major search operation both at sea, from the air and on land.

– It was a civilian who found the parachutist. The person has been taken to a local hospital and is described as stable, but there was still a wish from health personnel to make sure that everything was in order, says Kaalaas.

The police are on their way to the hospital to question all those involved in order to gain clarity on the course of events.

The skydiver was part of a group of four. The other three landed safely on the ground and reported to the police. There must have been relatively low cloud cover in the area, according to the police, who asked witnesses to call if they had observed anything.
