GNR prevented supporters of Sporting de Braga and Vitória de Guimarães from engaging in clashes earlier today, and detained two men for possession of prohibited weapons, a source said.
According to the source, the clashes would have been scheduled for a leisure park in Caldas das Taipas, in Guimarães, after the football game played on Thursday night between the two clubs and which ended with the victory of Braga by 3-2 .
In a statement, the GNR said it received a complaint that groups of fans from the two rival clubs “would be involved in aggression and provoke contempt”.
For this reason, he mobilized for the meeting place, in Cadas das Taipas, “the necessary means, having been possible to prevent such confrontations from taking place”.
At the scene, a 19-year-old man was identified and made a defendant for possession of two ‘very light’ (light rocket) and five other men, aged between 19 and 22, were identified in possession of two snooker clubs. .
Still following information collected on the spot, the GNR intercepted a vehicle in which a woman and three men followed, carrying a metal stick and a 30 cm iron.
Two men were arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon, and another man and woman, aged 19 and 20, were identified, respectively.
The detainees were constituted defendants and the facts forwarded to the Guimarães Court.
