GGDs expect 600 to 2,400 confirmed infections per day from June NOW

The GGDs expect to diagnose 600 to 2,400 corona infections per day from June. This is evident from calculations by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) that umbrella organization GGD GHOR Friday.

According to estimates, if more measures around the partial lockdown are relaxed, around 30,000 people can be tested per day from June. RIVM expects that between 2 and 8 percent will prove to be infected with the COVID-19 virus.

People who test positive are placed in isolation. The GGD will also investigate who has infected the person and with whom he or she has had further contact. These people need to be tracked down and warned.

As of June, if all Dutch people with complaints can have themselves tested, the 25 GGDs must have enough personnel ready to carry out the source and contact research at the lower limit of six hundred confirmed infections per day.

Because an investigation takes an average of five hours, at least 800 employees are required nationwide who work full-time. In the worst case scenario, this could amount to 3,200 full-time jobs. Call centers of “prominent partners” employ 2,400 employees if necessary. Who these partners are will be announced shortly.

Several measures against the corona virus will be relaxed in June, provided the virus remains under control. Secondary schools will open again and public transport will run according to the normal timetable. Terraces, cinemas, restaurants, concert halls and theaters can also reopen under certain conditions.
