The German defense minister announced new arms shipments to Ukraine, including a total of 100 tanks from Greece and Slovakia.

Germany has announced an additional supply of weapons for the Ukrainian armed forces, in particular it promises to send 100 tanks from Greece and Slovakia. This was announced by German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht during a visit to German troops stationed in Lithuania on Saturday 8 October, she reports CNN.

He promised that Ukraine would receive the IRIS-T air defense system and a total of 100 tanks from Greece and Slovakia.

Lambrecht further noted that NATO countries must work to strengthen their defenses.

“We live in serious times, and in these times it is also important to know where we have security gaps. Air defense is one of these areas where urgent action is needed,” he said.

The minister added that in the face of an increased security threat, Germany will also create a new armored infantry brigade that could be quickly deployed to Lithuania if needed.

Note that the German media has already offered Germany divide the supply load Ukraine with armored vehicles creating a special consortium of tanks with 12 partners.

It should be noted that the German government names various reasons that prevent the transfer of heavy weapons to Ukraine. In particular, APU training use these tanks or fears of an escalation of the conflict with Russia.
