German Defense Officials Caught Discussing Sensitive Ukrainian Issues on Webex; Possible Bombing of Crimean Bridge Mentioned

Conversations of German defense officials on sensitive Ukrainian issues took place on the audio and video conference platform “Webex”.

Margarita Simonyan, head of the Russian propaganda empire Russia Today, published the 30-minute long recording on Friday. In it, high-ranking officers discuss the theoretical possibility that Ukraine could be supplied with Taurus missiles.

Simonyan claimed that high-ranking representatives of the German army also discussed the possibility of bombing the Crimean bridge.

The Crimean bridge, which connects Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in 2014, with the rest of Russia, was pompously opened by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018, and is actively used to transfer the army and military equipment in the war against Ukraine. In Ukraine, it is considered a symbol of the annexation of Crimea.

On October 8, 2022, the Ukrainians staged a powerful explosion on it, which Russia, which by then had killed thousands of Ukrainians and destroyed countless cities, hypocritically called an “act of terror” and intensively bombarded Ukrainian civilian objects for several months to keep the population in winter without heating, lighting and water.

Last year, several attacks were carried out against the bridge, causing it various damages, for example, on July 17 with naval drones, paralyzing the operation of the bridge for several months, and also on August 12.

In a July 2023 speech at the Aspen Security Forum, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the bridge a legitimate military target that must be neutralized.
