Furious Iranians, throw the hijab. Why was Mahsa Amini killed?

The death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was detained by the moral police in Iran because of a “carelessly folded hijab”, sparked a wave of protests across the country and around the world, which have continued for several days.

The Iranians lit fires in the streets, threw objects and removed posters depicting religious authorities. Women around the world have cut their hair in protest, the United States has sanctioned the moral police of the Asian country, and President Ebrahim Raisi attacked Washington at a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Demonstrations are already underway in at least 80 cities and at least 17 people have died in the biggest wave of civil unrest in recent years.
