Freedom of Choice: Austria Emphasizes the Importance of Payment Options

Vienna (OTS) – “Whether electronically, card or cash – people in Austria decide how they pay,” says Franz Rudorfer, managing director of the federal banking and insurance division in the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKÖ). With this, the Austrian banks are once again emphasizing the importance of freedom of choice when paying in the discussion about the payment of the future, the digital euro and access to cash. Because: “Paying is a fundamental process in our daily lives; choosing the form of payment is also a piece of freedom.”

“Freedom of choice when paying also means that local banks offer ATMs to communities at cost price through a joint company, Payment Service Austria (PSA). The annual costs for this are less than 17,000 euros. “As I said, this is the cost price. With this offer, the banks are making a contribution to uncomplicated access to cash throughout Austria,” emphasizes Rudorfer. (PWK379/JHR)
