Foreigners planned to launch 8 drug laboratories in Kazakhstan

news-id-109349" style="display:inline;">The police stopped the activities of a transnational criminal group that organized the production and sale of synthetic drugs in Kazakhstan, Zakon.kz reports.

A large-scale special operation was carried out by employees of the Department for Combating Drug Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the press service of the department reports.

At the end of last year, operatives of the department in the Almaty region carried out an operational development, during which eight foreigners were identified and detained, who organized the production of synthetic drugs in three clandestine laboratories in the region.

In the course of further operational-search activities, the police additionally identified two foreigners – the main organizers of the criminal group, responsible for financing and supplying precursors (chemicals for the production of drugs), as well as laboratory equipment from abroad to Kazakhstan.

One of the organizers, who organized the supply, storage and sale of precursors, was recently detained in the city of Almaty. During a search of six warehouses rented by him, eight units of special laboratory equipment for the drug production cycle, the so-called “reactors”, and 13 tons of precursors were seized.

Thus, the manufacture of more than two tons of synthetic drugs (that’s 4 million single doses) and the creation of eight large drug laboratories in the country are not allowed. More than 30 pieces of other equipment for the manufacture of synthetic drugs were also seized, including vacuum filters, thermostats and pumps. Arrests were imposed on three private houses and three cars.

The investigation is ongoing.
