The Nintendo Switch game Animal Crossing: New Horizons went over the counter 11.77 million times in March. That’s an average of over a million times a day since the game was released on March 20. Nintendo calls it “the best start ever” for a Switch game.
In the Animal Crossinggame, players manage their own tropical island, where they live with humanoid animals. Players can decorate their homes, fish and talk to computer characters, as well as visit other players’ islands.
In total, Nintendo sold 21 million Switch consoles over the past year, including the Switch Light. That is almost a quarter more than the period from March 2018 to March 2019. 168.72 million games were sold, including popular titles such as Pokémon Sword and Shield, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Super Mario Maker 2.
In total, 27 games were sold over a million times. This includes not only games published by Nintendo, but also from other developers.
