Fisker Alaska: Sustainable Electric Pickup with Extended Interior and Impressive Performance

Fisker Alaska offers a body that can be extended into the interior to transport an object up to 2.8 m long. It also wants to accelerate to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and have a range of up to 547 km. Production will begin in the US in about a year and a half.

After a sneak peek a few days ago, we finally have more information on the Fisker Alaska, an electric pickup that the automaker says is the most sustainable in the world. In addition, we also learn about the hitherto mysterious possibility to extend the body from the original 1.37 meters up to 2.8 m.

He’s alive with a pickup truck, let’s start right here. The automaker calls the system “Houdini’s counter” after the famous magician who lived a hundred years ago, but it’s not that kind of magic. It is a partition between the cabin and the body, which, including the glass, can be inserted into the floor. In this way, the cargo space can be extended to 2.3 meters when one folds the rear seatbacks and leaves the rear headboard closed. When the length of the rear end is added, the cargo space is up to 2.8 meters long, says the press release.

Alaska’s five-seat interior also has a few tricks up its sleeve. One of the unorthodox ones is the so-called “big gulp holder” – an extension to the drink holder, in which it is possible to fix a really giant bottle, as shown in one of the photos. Another is the net on the ceiling above the rear seats, which according to the fisker is a holder for a cowboy hat, but it can certainly be used for a straw hat as well, and the interior will offer a special box for work gloves or a retractable tablet holder in the dashboard in front of the passenger.

The press release does not elaborate on the topic of best sustainability, so we can only speculate that it will be something similar to the Ocean model. It boasts a “vegan” interior, for the production of which nothing related to the slaughter of animals was used.

The 5.3 m long Alaska will offer a battery with a capacity of 75 or 113 kWh, with which the car will have a range of 370-547 kilometers, at least according to the automaker. In reality, the range will depend on the load, the route profile and the possible trailer, as with any other car.

Acceleration to the “American hundred” 60 mph (97 km/h) should be from 3.9 to 7.2 seconds depending on the version, but what those versions will be, what power they will have, is still a mystery. However, we know that Alaska is supposed to stand on a modified platform of the Ocean hatchback, so we can expect similar performance from about 280 to 564 horsepower.

Production should begin in the first quarter of 2025, but it is already possible to reserve the Alaska for a fee of 250 dollars (approx. 5500 crowns). The estimate of the basic selling price is 45,400 dollars, i.e. roughly one million crowns.
