Finland Border Guards Use Tear Gas to Control Crowd at Nirala Border Control Point

According to Finnish media, border guards had to use tear gas to control the crowd.

The Friday evening incident took place at the Nirala border control point. Interestingly, this point is one of those that Finland decided to close at 00:00 on Saturday night.

It can be seen that most of the immigrants have bicycles. This echoes the story of another immigrant who entered Finland about the help provided by Russian services and instructions on how to cross the border.

Yle reports that a group of people initially tried to cross the border together, but were stopped by border guards.

The video shows how one of the immigrants then tries to literally run through the border checkpoint, but is caught and sent back.

The attempt itself looks more like a provocation than a real effort to enter the country.

After the border guards used tear gas, one of the 30 people needed first aid, but according to Finnish media, his health is not in danger at the moment.

The representative of the border guard “Yle” explained that they were warned about the group’s approach by sensors. According to him, the border guards were prepared for such situations.

It was previously reported that on the night of November 17 to 18, Finland closed four border checkpoints with Russia – in Valima, Nuijam, Imatra and Nirala.

This decision followed an increase in the number of illegal immigrants on the country’s border, who are believed to have been purposefully sent there by Russia, practicing the hybrid warfare methods used in Belarus against neighboring countries.

A complete closure of the Finnish-Russian border is also being considered.
