Ex-pastor sentenced to 146 years for burning son and stepson alive

Former pastor Georgeval Alves Gonçalves was sentenced, this Wednesday (19), to 146 years and four months in prison for raping, torturing and killing his son Kauã and stepson Joaquim, in Linhares, Espírito Santo, in 2018. that children were abused and burned alive.

Georgeval got 40 years in prison for the crime of murder for each of the boys; 22 years and six months in prison for the crime of rape for each of the boys; and 10 years and 8 months in prison for the crime of torture for each of the boys.

The trial was scheduled to end this Thursday (20), but the sentence was read out earlier this evening at the Linhares Forum. According to g1, as soon as the years in prison were read by the judge, the family members celebrated with shouts and applause. The crime completes five years this Friday (21).

Brothers Kauã and Joaquim, aged 6 and 3, died charred in a fire, in Linhares, on April 21, 2018. The police say that George, Joaquim’s father and Kauã’s stepfather, abused the children and then attacked them . Then he set fire to the boys who were still alive, according to forensics. The boys’ mother, Juliana Salles, the children’s mother, was arrested twice. On the day of the fire, she reported that she was at a congress in Minas Gerais with the couple’s youngest son. The police say that Juliana knew about the abuse suffered by her children. She also says that the couple was going to use the children’s deaths as a way to gain notoriety within the religious milieu.

But Justice understood that there was no evidence of her involvement in the death of her children. The case against her was dropped. Currently, Juliana is in another relationship and has another child.
