Defender Lucy Bronze has revealed that England would not have lived up to their own expectations had they not reached the World Cup semi-finals.
Las Leonas beat Colombia in the quarterfinals on Saturday to set up Wednesday’s quarterfinal matchup with co-hosts Australia.

“If we hadn’t made it to the semifinals, I would have said we would underperform,” Bronze said.

Swedish defender Amanda Ilestedt brought her tally to four goals when she netted in the quarterfinal win over Japan.
It only took one behind current leader Hinata Miyazawa, who is no longer in the tournament, so she has a real shot at the Golden Boot. Not bad for a center midfielder.
