Eligio Jáquez takes office as Consul General of the Dominican Republic in NY

The new consul general of the Dominican Republic in New York City, Eligio Jáquez, assumed his functions today during a ceremony in which he assured that the doors of the consulate will be open to all his compatriots, which will expand the services provided and that it will contribute to an increase in exports of the main agricultural items to the market of the states under its jurisdiction.

Jáquez, who was appointed in office on August 19 by President Luis Abinader Corona through decree 354-20, replaces Carlos Castillo.

During the event held in the main hall of the consulate, both signed the transfer of administration certificate.

The new consul also expressed through his Twitter account that his intention is to carry out an impeccable management, with improvements for the Dominican community in that state.

He also highlighted the contributions made by the Dominican community abroad, estimated at almost three million Dominicans, to the country’s economy, alleviating the government’s public burden.

“There are almost three million Dominicans living abroad who have taken the pressure off governments of having to seek a remedy or solution to their deficiencies and needs,” he pointed out while maintaining that from the consulate he will be able to undertake programs for greater protection and services to Dominicans residing in the states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
