ELECTIONS – Orlando Jorge Mera confirms that the scanners will be audited

The political delegate of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) before the Central Electoral Board (JCE) Orlando Jorge Mera, said Saturday that the scanners to be used in the next election elections on March 15 will be audited.

He indicated that it will be the Organization of American States (OAS) that performs this audit and that on Monday, March 2, a team will arrive for this purpose.

Regarding the use of scanners in electoral elections, the PRM political delegate indicated that these will only be used on March 15.

“These teams will only be used for the March 15 elections and only to transmit an image of the minutes of which the delegates will already have a copy of it, before transmitting it to the Electoral Boards,” he explained.

In that sense, he specified that if the scanners did not work at the time of the elections for some reason, it would not imply any problem, since “it would only be a matter of taking those minutes with the kit to the Electoral Board”.

JCE Trust

Jorge Mera also commented that the PRM currently has its confidence in the organizations that are observing the JCE and not in this entity as such.

“This is a situation in which the trust we have in it is the organizations that are observing this process, say OAS and IFES, which are the ones that guarantee the confidence we could have in the JCE,” he said.

The political delegates of the different parties were gathered on Saturday morning to meet and discuss the pattern of the constituencies abroad and the one that will be used in the country in the presidential elections.
