Education – Erfurt – Minister: After Easter comprehensive rapid tests in schools – Education

Erfurt (dpa / th) – Thuringia’s Minister of Education Helmut Holter (Linke) expects that there will be nationwide rapid tests in schools only after Easter. “Various details still have to be clarified when procuring these rapid tests,” he said in the “taz am weekend” (Saturday edition). On the one hand, it is not yet clear what role the federal government will play in the order. On the other hand, the state of Thuringia must define its own test strategy.

In addition, it must be checked which products younger schoolchildren can use to test themselves without any problems – or whether it is better to leave the tests under school supervision. The self-tests will soon be available in supermarkets and drug stores, for example. Holter recommends that students still only carry out the tests under supervision: “That seems more reliable to me,” he told the newspaper.

The federal and state governments agreed on Wednesday to provide schoolchildren with a voluntary quick test for each attendance week. “Comprehensive rapid tests are now very important so that we can come back from the high incidence values,” said Holter.
